ti na Mointich (Moorland Tea)

£4.95

Many memories of Scotland are of Misty moorlands, which have in a large part of the country remained unchanged from the time of our ancestors.  Don't be fooled by what appears to be an expanse of low-lying boggy plants.. the moorlands of the highlands are full of useful botanicals, that our ancestors were very knowledgeable about. This blends carefully crafted, represents the common herbs found in the Scottish moors, that were frequently used as beverages in the highlands.  Blaeberry leaves, berries, birch leaf, heather blossom make a wonderful flavour- light, but with tannins, making a perfect substitute for ordinary tea (-in fact during the rations of World War 2, we reverted to the ancestral tradition, and picked blaeberry leaves as a tea-substitute.)  The blaeberry, is packed with antioxidants, and has been used for circulatory disorders, balancing blood sugar levels and for blood cholesterol in traditional use.  This kind of blend would be used on a daily basis as a herbal 'tonic in traditional use, and makes for a refreshing brew to this day!
