Sustainable Futures: all are invited-BYOJ

The idea to sell our tea without packaging, first came to us years ago when a regular customer at our community market turned up with a Kilner jar and placing it on the stall, requested we ‘take it away and fill it up with tea’.

I was selling my teas in gusseted plastic sweet bags at the time, and handwriting the labels, on account of how small-scale we were, and there not being wide enough profit margins for alternative packaging solutions. Well, that stuck with me. The request was straightforward and made sense to me, and yet I didn’t have the means to make it happen at that time.

We have been on a journey since then, from one ‘eco’ bag to another, discovering that beneath kraft paper, often lurks a plastic coating, or zip-seal, and tin-tie, so that even the most attractive eco packaging isn’t as sustainable as it would first appear.

So with the new wave of Zero-Waste businesses hitting the high-streets, (and the arrival of our baby, Luna…Nothing makes you think of sustainable futures more than the birth of a brand new baby!) it seems a perfect time to get with the trend and offer our teas in a way that fits with our core beliefs and ethos.

We’re ready to fill that jar!

From now on, you can bring a jar to any market and fill it with your favourite tea. We’ll offer you a 50p discount (per50g bag price) for being a considerate citizen of the Earth -So you’ll save money as well as waste. Hooray!

in the new year we will be announcing some exciting new ‘Filling Stations’ that are going to be offering herbal tea refills, but for now, check out our upcoming events on our events page, come along and see us and,
